Gmail Herald is a handy, easy to use Qt 4 based software specially designed to alert you when you have new Gmail messages. It displays an icon in your system tray to let you know if you have unread emails, and shows you their subjects, senders and snippets, all without a web browser. You can mark new messages as read by clicking on corresponding button at notification window.

New features

- Added ability to manually iterate (back and forth) over the multiple messages in notification window,
- Added ability to mark email messages as read from the notification window. This feature requires enabling IMAP support for Gmail account,
- Added ability to check for application updates,
- Extended tray icon with notification capabilities: show warnings and tool tips,
- Refactored version control code,
- Change the application settings file location - now it stored in the user preferences system directory.

Bug fixes

- Fixed notification window behaviour: it does not freeze the whole GUI anymore,
- Improved notification window layout,
- Now changing application settings take effect immediately and not after restarting the application,
- Fixed spelling errors in localization texts,
- Multiple small fixes and improvements.

- Fixed issue caused by opening multiple browser windows (tabs) when double clicking on icon.
- Refactored the application versions management code.
- Minor code improvements.

September 26, 2011. Version 0.3
1) Fixed wrong separators usage issue in GMail Herald executable path
when save it into the Windows registry for starting the application on
system start up. This prevented to GMail Herald start as expected. Now
the native separators used instead.

2) Improved version control system.

3) Implemented the new installer script for new NSIS based package generation.
The new install package includes SSL related libraries missed in previous
packages as well Microsoft run times.

4) Removed dependency from QCA libraries and use Qt based functions instead.

5) Added icon for the Gmail Herald executable file (Windows).

Cosmetic improvements on notification window.

Added button to notification window to hide it with mouse click.
Play sound on new email arrival.
Improved Options dialog with sound file settings.

I store translation files (*.qm) in 'translations' directory under the Gmail Herald installation folder.
